Skilling for Work
This program will target the long-term unemployed,
people returning to the workforce, people with a disability,
Indigenous persons, Australian South Sea Islanders,
older jobseekers (45 years and over), youth and
people from culturally and linguistically diverse
communities. A flexible approach will include people who
are employed 20 hours per week or less and unable to secure full-time employment as they lack the necessary Information Communication Technological skills. This program will cater to all employment and training goals and/or needs of the participants
It will offer career and training advice, a choice of non-accredited and computer learning through an electronic tutorials. The courses consists of; Information Technology Concepts, The Functions of a Personal Computer, The Internet and Networks, Searching the Internet Effectively, Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Presentations and Drawing, Databases/Filing Systems and MYOB.
The program will assist community members to gain specific qualifications to retain employment, who wish to move into more secure employment and/or increase hours of employment. They will be offered extensive support in composing resumes and responding to and understanding employment application processes, interview techniques, and the skills and resources needed to research the employment/training market and specific Industries or positions and how best to access these.
